Earlier this week, EA announced it was temporarily disabling microtransaction purchases in Star Wars Battlefront II due to feedback by the community. However according to the Wall Street Journal, this decision to drop the microtransactions for the launch of the game came from Disney.
The online backlash had caught the attention of Disney CEO Robert Iger, who was “alarmed”, with Disney’s head of consumer products and interactive media, Jimmy Pitaro, also expressing his concerns. As Disney aren’t happy with how the online controversy was reflecting poorly on the Star Wars brand.
